Derby
At the Court of General Sessions on Thursday (before Messrs. B. C. Glover, C. Lucas, and R. J. Shanhun). Arnold Sharpe, of Branxholm, proceeded against Charles Robinson for £12 damages for breach of contract. Mr. Hutchins appeared for the plaintiff and Mr. S. Evans for the defendant. The case created great interest and lasted all day up to about 9 o’clock in the evening. A large number of witnesses were called on each side, and the proceedings were at times lively between the opposing counsel.
The Bench gave a verdict for the plaintiff for £1 5s, with costs to follow on the £12 scale.
